Custom Silk Accessory Quotes: Compare Scope Before Price

Compare custom silk accessory quotes only after the product, quantity, pricing unit and included work match. Put product unit prices, one-off charges, packaging and delivery scope in separate fields. A lower figure is useful only when you know what it buys.

This guide is for a brand buyer reviewing supplier offers for a scarf or accessory program. The immediate decision is whether the offers are comparable, need clarification or require a revised quote. Use it to request a clear, itemised revision before making that choice.

Are both suppliers quoting the same accessory?

Give the request a reference and revision, then attach the same specification to each offer. For a scarf, that means identifying fibre composition separately from weave, together with the finished dimensions, print route and edge finish. If a supplier proposes an alternative, place it on a separate line rather than silently treating it as the requested product.

For example, Hengwang’s brown and green paisley square scarf listing describes an 89 × 89 cm, 100% silk style with a single-sided digital print and machine hem. Those are references for that named style. A different fabric, print route or finish needs its own confirmed specification and quote; the photograph is not evidence that two offers cover the same item.

A styling photograph identifies the design reference. It does not define the quoted fabric, order quantity, packaging or delivery scope.

What does one quoted unit actually contain?

Define the unit before comparing its price. One scarf, a pair of accessories and a complete gift set are different units. State the total quantity and the split by design or colourway, then check that each supplier has priced the same combination. Do not assume an overall order quantity applies unchanged to every design.

Keep the product unit price separate from any development, sample, artwork handling or setup charge. Ask which charges apply and whether a stated credit depends on a later order or another condition. An unclear fee is an open question, not a zero. Confirm any such charges or credits for the specific program before treating them as agreed.

Quote comparison: seven fields to align
Comparison field Same basis required If the offers differ
Product specification Same fibre composition, fabric reference, finished size, print and construction. Ask for a revision if one offer uses a different material or finish.
Quantity and unit Same total quantity and design/colour split; define a piece, pair or complete set. Do not compare a per-piece offer with a per-set offer.
Product unit price Currency, quoted quantity basis and what is included per unit. Keep extra components and excluded work visible.
One-off charges Itemise any sample, development, artwork or setup charge separately. Confirm whether a charge applies, and whether any credit is conditional.
Branding and packaging Specify labels, tags, inserts, individual packing and outer packing as applicable. Mark each item included, extra, excluded or awaiting confirmation.
Delivery and timing Named delivery place, agreed trade rule/version if used, shipping scope and timing trigger. Separate a dispatch estimate from arrival and approval-dependent timing.
Validity and assumptions Quote date, expiry, payment terms and outstanding specification decisions. Keep provisional offers out of a final price ranking.

How do you handle an offer with more included work?

Consider an illustrative comparison: one offer covers a finished scarf in individual packing; another also includes a branded card and a gift box. Mark the different contents first, then request both suppliers to price the same chosen scope. Do not subtract a guessed packaging allowance to make the figures look comparable.

The U.S. International Trade Administration’s pro forma invoice guidance identifies items, unit and extended prices, delivery point, payment terms and validity among quotation details. It is useful background for making an offer explicit. Our seven-field table adapts that principle to accessory sourcing; confirm the documents required for your particular destination separately.

Record the chosen print and edge finish in the quote revision. A product photograph cannot establish a price or an included service.

Does a delivery term settle the whole comparison?

Ask for the delivery scope in writing. If an Incoterms® rule is used, identify the rule, named place or point and edition, and ask which quoted charges cover which responsibilities. ICC’s public explanation distinguishes delivery-related obligations, risk and costs from matters such as product specifications and payment. Keep those other decisions explicit in the quote.

The ITA’s total export price guidance also distinguishes the product price from additional cost elements such as freight, insurance and import charges. For a comparison, record applicable inclusions, exclusions and items awaiting a current estimate. Do not label a product-only quotation as a confirmed delivered total or invent a duty or tax figure.

Record what starts any quoted production estimate, including approvals still required, and distinguish dispatch from arrival. Where scope, quantity or timing remains provisional, label the offer accordingly. Ask for a dated revision after the missing inputs are resolved instead of ranking a conditional estimate as a final offer.

What should you send for a comparable revised quote?

Start with Hengwang’s OEM / ODM custom programs page and identify the scarf or accessory you want quoted. Send the specification revision, total quantity and design split, branding and packing list, destination, requested delivery basis and any target date. Where a dimension is unclear, use the finished scarf dimensions guide to define the requested measurement.

Ask for an itemised response with assumptions and exclusions visible. Material feasibility, order minimums, sample arrangements, charges, payment terms and timing need confirmation for the particular program. Keep the revised quote together with its specification so the next decision uses one agreed scope.
